Welcome to the new thoughts skin

After taking ages to launch the new skin, I have decided to launch it.

Gone are the boxes around posts, the front page is simplier (or will be once I tone down the archive/category links to the most important) and a more consistant design is in-place.

Over the coming months, I will also be updating the kjwebb.com front page and adding more content.

IE7 users please note: There is a known issue with the search box’s button going below the search box. It will be fixed (it may be causing the same issue in Safari, but I haven’t got the time to check compared to if it was a clients website, where I would have had time)

TEN Supernatural saga

TV Downloads

A bit more of a follow up on the TEN Supernatural downloads.

Firstly, I have uninstalled the software that TEN gets you to install (it’s not just an ActiveX control, but a whole program that starts when you login to Windows). Why? I don’t want to download DRM, time-limited videos that require a stupid third-party program so you can download and watch them.

Now the nitty gritty. TEN does not state on the front page of the site, if it has DRM or not. The first sign of any protection etc. is when you need to get the third-party software download via an ActiveX control.

If you delve into the FAQ section though, you will find out that it is copy-protected and has this 48 hour timebomb (which is stupid at this time of year, because you may download it, go away for a week or a weekend and then find you have wasted bandwidth because the file has timebombed).

Also, some users have reported on Whirlpool (need to have a particular level of access to see the TV lounge) and Media Spy that they can not even access the site as it comes up telling them that they are not in Australia, even though they are in WA with correct IP addresses.

And TEN, Microsoft won’t bring out a new version of Windows Media Player for the Mac. It’s why you need to get that third party plugin ‘Filp4Mac’.
