XBOX 360 – Gears of War (GOW)

Although I haven’t had the chance to play GOW (it doesn’t emerge until the 23/11/06), but I have seen it at a XBOX 360 retailer training night.

For those that don’t know, GOW is where you fight these insects/creatures which have emerged through holes in the ground. It is said to be the Halo killer (although I think Halo Wars and Halo 3 will keep Halo alive).

Most people would have only seen videos/images of the game. I haven’t seen them, but I can tell you that the in-game experience, although I didn’t play it myself, is quite impressive.

A few warnings, the casual setting isn’t that casual, and the chainsaw is brutal (blood everywhere, and the camera pans around to show you chainsawing the opponent).

Overall, for the really nice graphics and the features, I rate it 4/5.

It’s Showtime – Apple’s 12/9/06 (US) event

The message below is currently appearing on the iTunes Music store.

iTunes Store message

It’s expected that the iTunes Store (as the iTMS is referred to in the image) will become a Movie and Music store among a fullscreen iPod video and maybe other things at an event at 3am (AEST) in the US).
The question is, will Australia get movie downloads?

I suggest you also following the events at:

It's Showtime - Update

I have finally been able to get through to the Australian Store showing the message.

As such, the image is replaced with one I capped. Note that the navigation also says “It’s Showtime”.

Also, all iTunes links goto a placeholder page saying the same thing.

It's Showtime - Update Apple Australia’s store is down
And just as this update was posted, I found the following at http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=232790&page=14
Sky News UK has suspected that Apple will be doing movie sales via iTunes to help boost iPod sales.
It's Showtime - Update

US store is down now. 1 hour and 26 minutes to go.

More as it comes to hand (I might even stay up to 3am. At least I have a website to work on and no CIT tomorrow).
